Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
To start study course (or semester) all previous assessments according to Study plan (D1) should be successfully passed. General knowledge in biology.
Objective:
The aim of the course is to learn assessment methods of nutrition and metabolism, including anthropometry and evaluation of body composition, to understand their role in human development process and ensuring of life processes throughout the entire life. Tasks of the course: 1) to give knowledge about assessment methods of nutrition and metabolism, their role in early diagnostics of nutrient, micronutrient deficiency, that allows to early find out and prevent risk of malnutrition or nutrient toxicity (too much uptake); 2) to give knowledge about main principles of energy balance and understand the importance of its changes in development of diseases.
