Preliminary Knowledge:
Prior knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of nervous system.
Objective:
Promote the acquisition of knowledge about criteria of mental health and the role of prevention of physical disorders and diseases.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
To get acquainted with the recommended literature before each class, to prepare questions. Prepare clinical case presentations of patients from their practices, according to the topic of the class. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
Assessment Criteria:
I. Knowledge – the ability to define: 60%: 1. Patient's mental health criteria (10%) 2. Mental protection mechanisms of the patient (10%) 3. Personality functioning levels of the patients (5%) 4. Basics of collecting psychosomatic history (anamnesis) (10%) 5. Principles of building a therapeutic physiotherapist - patient relationship (10%) 6. Diagnosis of psychosomatic disorders, theories of somatization, principles of treatment (10%) 7. Definitions of personality, development theories (5%). II. Skills: 40%: 1. Basics of building a therapeutic physiotherapist - patient relationship, communication with patients with different functioning levels (10%) 2. Physiotherapist - patient support therapy elements (10%) 3. Basics of collecting psychosomatic history (anamnesis) (10%) 4. Diagnosis of psychosomatic disorders, differential diagnosis, evaluation of treatment strategies, analysis of clinical cases (10%). Automatic exam credit: 1. 100% attendance of classes AND 2. The student is an active participant in discussions and role plays. 3. According to the lecturer's instructions – prepares an essay in the amount of 5 – 6 pages, with the analysis of the questions asked by the lecturer. OR Prepares a presentation about: a) lesson topics (literature review); b) clinical case; c) latest research (according to the topic of the lesson).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:On completion of the study course students will acquire basic knowledge of psychotherapy, techniques of supportive psychotherapy and competence in building therapeutic physiotherapist - patient relationship.
Skills:On course completion students will develop skills in building a therapeutic physiotherapist - patient relationship and also to provide emotional support.
Competencies:Students will be able to understand and analyze the need for psychotherapy in patients with emotional disorders, understand the diagnostic criteria and the need for combination of therapies.
