Preliminary Knowledge: | Anatomy, physiology, pediatrics, psychology, basics in occupational therapy. | ||||||||
Objective: | Students need to acquire knowledge and comprehension about occupational therapy process in pediatric practice, evaluate activity carrying capacity, analyze problems and use this knowledge in planning OT intervention. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | Student by independently using literature and internet links: • carries out observation of child development and makes a presentation; • prepares a presentation about children activity scopes; • prepares abpresentation about types of paly and appropriate toys for different age stages; • carries out task about basic principles of positioning children with movement disorders. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Test method: 1st semester – individual tasks an presentations (20%), tests (20%), practical test about basic principles in handling and positioning (30%), written test (40%). 2nd semester – participation in classes (30%), individual tasks and presentations (30%), oral exam testing knowledge and practical skills (40%). | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Acquire knowledge about different aspects and contexts of child development. Will be able to characterize children activities, describe development of ones and explain the most typical restrictions, recognize the main theoretical approaches in pediatric OT and will be able to describe ones. Will be able to organize activity disfunction evaluation for children, will be able to characterize OT practice process and describe usage of separate therapeutic methods for children with activity disorder. | ||||||||
Skills: | Will be able to evaluate and describe functional skills of a child, will use separate standartised OT assessment tools, to analyse restrictions and resources of carrying out activities for children. Will interpret evaluation results and plan therapy accordingly to activity disfunction of a child. Demonstrate in oversight therapeutical methods, document OT process in its different stages. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Using the acquired knowledge and skills about pediatric OT methods students will be able to: • interpret and evaluate results; • plan intervention according a child's disfunction; • develop and use evidence based assessment and therapy; • evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. | ||||||||
