Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Anatomy, physiology and fundamentals of internal medicine, knowledge of the official language, English reading skills.
Objective:
The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge of the basic principles of clinical nutrition, it`s impact on the course and outcome of the disease, as well as the practical aspects of nutritional therapy at different stages of life and in different clinical situations.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Independent work of students is organised on individual basis and/or in working groups by assigning the following tasks: to prepare independently for seminars, examinations (E1, E2), final examination (E3); to study literature on topics related to respective course.
Assessment Criteria:
The final rating of the study course will be resulted from the Intermediate assessment: 1)2 presentations (25%); 2)2 written tasks (25%) Final assessment: 3)Examination, which consists of written and oral part (50%).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:1)Understanding the evaluation of nutrition in people at different stages of life. 2)Explain the effects of age and disease in relation to nutrient needs. 3)Understands the different types of nutrition treatments and diets.
Skills:1) to perform nutritional screening and assessment; 2) to make basic diet recommendations for children in different age groups, adults’, elderly people, as well as patients with specific problems and different eating habits
Competencies:Ability to assess nutritional needs and provide with diet recommendations people in different life stages with different eating habits
