| Unaided Work: | Individual and pair work – preparing presentations on one of the course topics, work with monolingual dictionaries – explaining terms; writing summaries, and e-mails according to the given principles. Students are obliged to fill in the course evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course. | ||||||||
| Assessment Criteria: | • Active participation in classes; written homework – qualitative, submitted in due time, the quality of oral answers -10%; • Presentations on the topics covered 2 times throughout the course - 30%; • Test – checking terminology acquisition and its practical application - 20%; • At the end of the course – Written Examination – checking knowledge and practical application of terminology, general comprehension and understanding of specific information, and the language use - 40%. | ||||||||

| Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
| Knowledge: | On successful completion of the course, students will be able to • recognize professional terminology in different types of texts; • recall professional terminology related to the field of dental hygiene; • describe different phenomena in the field of dental hygiene using professional terminology in English. | ||||||||
| Skills: | On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: • select and use appropriate terminology in English to speak and write (summaries, e-mails, memos) on the topics related to the field of oral hygiene; • use appropriate language devices to communicate their ideas both in written and spoken language; • summarize the information from any kind of source in written and spoken language using relevant terminology in English; • retell the general idea and specific information in different kinds of texts from varied types of sources. | ||||||||
