Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of the Latvian language is required (level A1/A2 according to Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning, Teaching and Assessment).
Objective:
To acquire dentistry vocabulary in Latvian and Latvian language at a conversational level in order to be able to use language in clinic and to communicate with patients.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Individual and pair work – mastering of the vocabulary of the corresponding topic and using of grammar, work with a dictionary, making dialogues. Students are obliged to fill in the course evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.
Assessment Criteria:
Active participation in practical classes. During semester there are 2 tests. They should be successfully passed. Average grade for tests (1st test is 40%, 2nd test is 60%) is the final grade for the course. In case students don't want the average grade for tests as the final grade for the course acquisition, there is an exam at the end of the course.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • use stomatology vocabulary in the Latvian language; • to talk to the patient in Latvian.
Skills: On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: • select and use appropriate stomatology vocabulary in communication with a patient; • to develop a case history.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to use practically stomatology vocabulary and communicate with adult patients and children.
