Preliminary Knowledge:
The knowledge of the English language as required in secondary school programme.
Objective:
Enable students to correctly apply medical terminology in English and Latin and promote its practical use; to integrate the acquired knowledge and skills in other study courses acquisition as well as in research; to apply the knowledge and skills in professional settings.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
1) completing regularly the tasks in the e-studies either related to evaluation or any other format given by the lecturer; 2) the usage of dictionaries, additional literature, Internet data base sources for deeper understanding of course terminology and reading as well as completeing tasks not related to evaluation; 3) the preparation and presentation of talks on topics related to the scope of the course which are based on information from reliable sources: books, research articles, data bases, Internet sources, etc.; 4) research article and presentation summary writing; 5) preparation for tests/ e-examination for the evaluation of the acquired knowledge of medical terminology and its practical usage.
Assessment Criteria:
1) the evaluation criteria of the e-studies taks, e-tests, and e-examination are defined according to the methodology given in the e-studies or by the lecturer, and the resuts are given in percentage points; 2) presentation evaluation is based on the provided criteria and given in percentage points; 3) all the tasks related to evaluation, a presentation included, are to be completed before the final e-test/ e-examination; 4) the evaluation of Latin medical terminology acquisition is cumulative and calculated on the basis of evaluation-related individual tasks (3%) and the final e-test (97%) results; 5) the evaluation of English medical terminology acquisition is cumulative and calculated on the basis of two tests (57%), a presentation (28%) and the final e-examination (15%) results; 6) the whole course evaluation is cumulative as well and is based on the results of the Latin course (33%) and the English course (67%); the final grade on the scale from 1 to 10 is based on the result obtained in percentage points and given according to the valid RSU Studies Regulations.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Having completed the course, students will know: • the rules of spelling and pronunciation of medical terminology in the English and Latin languages; •the Latin language grammar rules of agreement in producing anatomical terminology; •the rules of structuring and interpreting anatomical and clinical terminology in the Latin and English languages; •the rules of translating anatomical and clinical terminology in the Latin language; •students will also know medical terminology in the English and Latin languages which is most commonly used in research and vocational settings.
Skills:Having completed the course, students will be able to: • correctly read, interpret, write and use medical terminology in the English and Latin languages; • identify, produce, classify, and compare medical terminology in the English and Latin languages; • read, understand, and analyse field specific texts in the English language; • write summaries of research articles and presentations; • express one's ideas and put forward arguments to justify one's opinion on vocational subjects with the use of appropriate language structures in English; • give instructions to patients in need for musculoskeletal rehabilitation in English; give a presentation based on individually collected information in English.
Competencies:Having completed the course, students will be able to correctly use anatomical and clinical terminology in the English and Latin language as well as practically apply the acquired knowledge and skills in academic, research, and vocational settings.
