Preliminary Knowledge:
Female anatomy, physiology, pathological anatomy, propedeutics of medicine, microbiology, pharmacology, organization of health care, epidemiology.
Objective:
To provide students with knowledge about the essence of gynaecological diseases, clinics, interpretation of diagnostic data, principles of treatment, prevention.

4The main gynaecological diseases, their treatment principles: principles of surgical treatment, conservative therapy, its indications, side effects: polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, uterine myoma, premenstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, infertility. Hormone preparations in gynaecology–estrogen, progesterone component, their effect on the genitals.Contraception, types, principles of choice, positive/negative side effects. Assessment
Unaided Work:
The student independently acquires the literature offered in the study program, summarizes the obtained information. Prepare a clinical pharmacist's valuation in cases of medication therapy.
Assessment Criteria:
Active participation in practical classes; timely submitted, high-quality fulfilled homeworks, quality of oral answers. Test: Knowledge of the topics acquired in the study course (including analysis of medication therapy) is tested.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Upon successful completion of the course, students will have acquired knowledge that will allow: • to understand the principles of menstrual disorders, menopause, hormonal therapy in gynaecology; • to understand the outpatient medication treatment and care of gynaecological patients, screening for precancerous diseases of the genital organs; • know family planning and contraception methods; • know the limitations and need for medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding period; • understand infections of the reproductive tract, uterine fibroids, benign ovarian tumours, aetiology of endometriosis, pathogenesis, prophylaxis.
Skills:• Interpret obtained information from a patient. • Understand lab exams. • Understand clinical diagnostics and pharmaceutical management of the disease. • Knowledge how to inform patient about possible treatment options available. • To consult patient on contraceptive use.
Competencies:Students will be able to: • Supervise ongoing pharmaceutical treatment. • Analyse advantages and disadvantages of different pharmaceutical treatments. • Prescribe needed pharmaceutical treatment with a supervising doctor.
