To acquire basic knowledge of the principles of health care organization. To create an idea about the place and role of the chosen profession in health care.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Students are preparing a 2 presentation, a subject relevant to the profession to be studied, based on the topics discussed: basic health policy values, documents. Development of health care. Healthcare legislation. Organisational structure of Latvian State health care. Documentation regulating the work of a physician's assistant.
Assessment Criteria:
2 presentations (40% + 40% = 80%) Participation in the discussion 20%.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Knows the internationally accepted core values on which health policy is based; the main international and Latvian health policy documents. Will be aware of the organisation and financing of health care, social assistance and education systems, rehabilitation service financing models and public and private (client) responsibility in this area.
Skills:Identify the necessary provision of professional aspects of a medical assistant in the organizational structure and management of the Latvian state health care
Competencies:Will be able to plan and organize a masseur job and a workplace, working independently or in a team. Will be able to comply with the requirements of the regulatory enactments in the field of medical treatment. Be able to organise their activities professionally according to the professional standard.
