To acquire practical skills on how to apply the principles of ergonomics in setting up a dental hygienist's workplace and how to apply the acquired knowledge in health maintenance and disease prevention, | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | On successful completion of the course, students will acquire basic knowledge: - about the influence of environmental factors on human health and the possibilities of reducing pollution; - about the physical, ergonomic, psycho-emotional, and other workplace risk factors and their impact on human health and their mitigation possibilities. - about occupational diseases caused by risk factors of the working environment, including the causes of musculoskeletal diseases and their prevention; - on how to properly arrange and organize the workplace of a dental hygienist. | ||||||||
Skills: | As a result of the study course, students will gain the skills: - to recognize the most common environmental factors that can cause environmental diseases; - to recognize the workplace risk factors that can affect the health of employees and patients, - to hold and operate the tools in the right manner, - adjust the light and the hygienist's chair, - as well as choosing the correct working posture. | ||||||||
Competencies: | After completing the course, students will gain the competence: - to participate in measures to reduce the impact of natural and work environment factors in their workplaces, - to apply the acquired knowledge in ergonomics at the workplace of a dental hygienist, - control and minimise the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, and - consider the principles of ergonomics in the design of the workplace. | ||||||||
