Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
In physiology, anatomy, Latin, biology, communication, clinical procedures, pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, propaedeutics, therapy, emergency medical assistance, nervous diseases, surgery, gynaecology, infectious diseases.
Objective:
To obtain knowledge about the aetiopathogenesis, clinic, complications, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the most common paediatric diseases.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
During the implementation of the study course, students independently and additionally, outside of lectures, study literature on relevant topics that are discussed in lectures and classes. Afterwards, students take tests and solve situational tasks in classes, applying the knowledge obtained.
Assessment Criteria:
Participation in at least 80% of the classes, fulfilling the conditions of preparation, successful completion of the test work and the final exam – situational tasks.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:After successful fulfilment of the study course requirements, the student will be able to explain the aetiopathogenesis of the most common paediatric diseases, name the clinical signs of the diseases, possible complications and necessary diagnostics, describe prevention and treatment measures.
Skills:As a result of completing the study course, the student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the diagnosis of paediatric diseases.
Competencies:As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to integrate the acquired knowledge and skills, evaluate and justify the diagnostic results of the most common paediatric diseases.
