Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Human anatomy, biology.
Objective:
To provide knowledge about the structural elements of the body, their functions and regulatory mechanisms. To develop an understanding of the nature and expression of diverse physiological processes that are realised in interaction with the external environment. To pay special attention to the principles of the muscular and nervous system, as well as to the examination of the life-sustaining systems, to understand the regulation of the parameters of breathing, blood circulation, excretory system and the pathological process thereof.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Attendance of lectures and practical classes, preparation for examination (test work, colloquia) according to the content of the study course; preparation for the final examination of the study course; individual and group work; work with study materials, study literature (research, analysis); drawing up of practical work results; performance of specific tasks; preparation of presentations; attending consultations on the content of the study course.
Assessment Criteria:
Testing of knowledge in the form of a short test during each practical class. Review and assessment of students’ independent work – 50%. Final test of theoretical knowledge at the end of the study course in the form of an exam – 50%.
Final Examination (Full-Time):Exam (Written)
Final Examination (Part-Time):
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of completing the study course, the student acquires basic knowledge of physiological processes in a living organism, principles of regulation and mechanisms thereof.
Skills:As a result of completing the study course, the student will be able to perform basic physiological measurements. To apply the acquired knowledge in the further study process. To see the differences between normal and pathological processes, evaluate them. To apply knowledge in one’s practical activity.
Competencies:The student will be able to use the acquired theoretical and practical knowledge, skilfully explaining and demonstrating various physiological actions in natural preparations and visual aids.
