Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
No prior knowledge of the Russian language is required.
Objective:
The course is designed to enable students to acquire basic communicative skills in order to interact with patients.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Oral and written homework assignments that are well done and submitted timely; active participation in classes. Students are obliged to fill in the course evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.
Assessment Criteria:
• Regular attendance and active participation in classes, • properly and regularly done homework, • at the end of the semester (verbally – dialogues or monologues and in writing – multi-compliance test in language use and matching tasks). The final mark is the exam mark.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • recognize the lexis of the course communication topics • name parts of the body, • describe the state of a patient, • recognize the common grammar structures of verbs and nouns.
Skills:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • perceive simple information for themselves, • provide oral information about themselves, studies, daily routine, • ask and answer questions, • use Russian in a communication process on the daily topics, • select and use medical terminology in communication with the patient, including collecting a history.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply practically the acquired knowledge and skills in various communicative situations.
