Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Students must have knowledge in oral anatomy, physiology, histology, microbiology and prevention of oral diseases.
Objective:
To acquire knowledge about the structure, functions and diseases of the dental support - periodontium, as well as their relationship with the characteristics of the bite, diseases of the teeth and body systems. To evaluate interrelationships in the diagnosis of diseases, in the selection of treatment methods and to be able to apply them in clinical practice. To acquire knowledge about calculus removal tools and the basic principles of instrumentation in pre-clinic and clinic.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
In practical classes to be able to independently examine the patient, observing ergonomics, and the correct choice and application of the instrument. Preparation for lectures and independent work with literature sources. To prepare full-fledged, comprehensive information on the given topic, using scientific literature.Fill in the course evaluation questionnaire.
Assessment Criteria:
At the end of each lecture, the control test about themes acquired in the lectures. The test is passed if 75% of the correct answers are given. The final exam can be taken if all lecture tests have been passed. At the end of the 1st and 2nd semesters, an exam on the subject acquired in lectures and practical classes. The exam is oral and written. The evaluation of the final exam will be 50% of the test result on the themes acquired in the lectures and 50% on the topics acquired in the lessons. The final assessment of the lessons consists of 50% written test and 50% practical work in the preclinic and clinic. The mark of the final exam will be calculated according to the following formula = (50% lecture + ((50% + 50%): 2) lessons): 2. The tests of the written part of the exam consist of optional and open-ended questions and are passed if 55% of the answers are given correctly. Evaluation of tests will be converted into points. In the oral-practical part, the student is able to show and apply various tartar removal tools in the clinic, is able to apply the correct ergonomic principles in work with the patient. Active and effective participation in lectures and practical classes.
