Building a fairer, healthier world.

On World Health Day, April 7, 2021, we call on you to join a new campaign to build a fairer, healthier world. Our world is unequal.

Some people are able to live healthier and have better access to health services than others - because of the conditions in which they were born, growing, living, working. Some groups around the world are struggling to cope with low daily incomes, they have poorer housing conditions and education, lower employment opportunities, higher gender inequality and little or no safe environment, clean water and air, food security and health services. This leads to unnecessary suffering, diseases that can be avoided and premature deaths. And it hurts our society and economy. This can be prevented. So we call on leaders to ensure that everyone has life and working conditions that contribute to good health. At the same time, we call on drivers to monitor health inequalities and to ensure that all people can access quality health services when and where they need them. COVID-19 has been severely affected by all countries, but its most severe impact is on those communities that were already vulnerable and more exposed to this disease, which have less access to high quality health services and are likely to have a detrimental effect on the measures taken to limit the pandemic. The WHO has committed itself to ensuring that everyone and everywhere can exercise the right to good health.
