The University's traditional Health Day will take place in the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Main Building (16 Dzirciema iela) on Wednesday, 30 November, from 10:00 to 14:00.

We invite RSU employees and students to donate blood in the rehearsal room by the RSU Great Hall. You can also sign up for simple health tests in the RSU lobby at 16 Dzirciema iela. You will be able to measure your blood pressure, determine blood sugar and cholesterol levels, determine body mass index, check your sleepiness and stress levels, test your vision, and learn about cervical cancer screenings.

By donating your blood, you can participate in the Latvian State Blood Donor Centre's social campaign Asins draudzība 2022 (Blood Friendship 2022) and take part in a friendly competition between universities. It might be your blood that ultimately helps RSU win! The campaign is open to everyone - students, staff, as well as their friends and relatives.

Information about the Blood Friendship campaign (in Latvian)

Did you know that according to the World Health Organization, people who regularly give their blood live five years longer on average? Donors’ hematopoietic systems are activated and their immunity improves, they suffer less from acute and chronic diseases and feel positive through helping others. One donation can save the lives of three people.

You can donate blood if you…

  • weigh not less than 50 kg,
  • have not consumed alcohol the day before donating blood,
  • have eaten, slept, rested, feel good,
  • are healthy and have not been sick recently,
  • maintain a healthy diet and have had plenty of fluids beforehand,
  • have not donated blood for at least 9 weeks.
Donors must present valid personal identification (a passport or ID) and give their bank account number.

Foreign students who have been granted a residence permit in Latvia with a LR personal code can also donate blood.
