Reinis Zariņš is a Latvian concert pianist residing in London, an outstandingly talented piano virtuoso who will dazzle admirers of his talent with the performance of various dance-style pieces written for piano. The dance of the keys will be opened by the traditional dance suites by Bach, followed by the Polish traditional folk dance mazurka in the traditional interpretation by Chopin and in the contemporary version by T. Ades, rounding the performance off with three versions of valse. Regarding the pianist, the concert programme, to a certain extent, presents a conscious paradox because it consists of dances which in fact have not been written for dancing, as the compositions carry a richness which can by no means serve the purpose of background music”.
