About Study Course
Objective
Develop students’ competence in providing first aid. Provide information about the civil protection structure and organisation in the country, as well as the responsibilities and measures to be taken in the event of various disasters in order to ensure adequate and timely action. Give information about the key environmental aspects (air, water, soil, food, etc.) and their potential impact on health and safety, as well as control, prevention and reduction (according to the Cabinet Regulations No. 716 “Minimum Requirements for the Content of the Compulsory Civil Protection Course and the Content of the Civil Protection Training for Employees”, adopted on 15.12.2017).
Prerequisites
Biology, physics, chemistry (Secondary school course level).
Learning outcomes
After completing this course students will be able to:
describe the role of circulatory and breathing system in the maintenance of vital functions
describe on-site emergency action plan
describe adults and pediatric resuscitation
name and describe signs of external and internal bleeding, external bleeding control methods
define shock and to describe first aid for shock patient
recall signs and describe first aid for casualty with bone fractures, joint dislocations, strains and sprains
describe effects of environmental factors on thermoregulation (heatstroke, hypothermia etc.) and describe first aid for conditions mentioned.
After completing this course students will be able to:
appropriately manage the case and provide qualitative first aid before EMS arrival
perform primary survey
perform basic life support for adults and children
perform first aid for choking casualty
control external bleeding with pressure
perform first aid for casualty in shock
provide first aid for casualty with trauma
provide first aid for casualty with thermal injury
provide first aid for casualty with seizures
demonstrate good team-working skills
After completing this course students will be able to provide appropriate high quality first aid for casualties with different critical conditions.
