Objective

To promote students' understanding and ability to successfully plan, implement and evaluate solutions to intercultural care problems – for the individual, the group and the community, based on understanding and tolerance.

Prerequisites

Care process and ethics, general psychology, interpersonal communication in health care, transcultural care.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of the study course students acquire knowledge and understanding of health care system as an organisation and culture, cultural models, responses to diversity, promotion of tolerance.

Skills

As a result of the study course students develop skills to analyde, integrate, synthesise acquired knowledge, use it as an approach to patient care.

Competence

As a result of the study course students develop their cultural competence: their understanding of the culture and their knowledge of other cultures, applying it to solving a specific, different problem situation.
