Assessment
Unaided Work:
Preparing a presentation on the topic covered during the course, an analysis of different clinical cases, a research project: literature review, a clinical study according to the research project principles.
Assessment Criteria:
Short tests during 5th semester – evaluation: "Pass/fail". Colloquium in 6th semester. In order to successfully complete the colloquium, at least 55% of the total points must be obtained. The rating table will be added to the colloquium version. Score 1 – 10. Practical test: a demonstration of practical skills (6th semester – part of the course examination: 30% of total mark of an exam). Theoretical examination (written): 6th semester. Report about clinical work: 5th and 6th semesters.
Final Examination (Full-Time):Exam
Final Examination (Part-Time):
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:On successful completion of the course the students will be able to: • describe the structure, functions and pathologies of dental hard tissues; • define local and general factors, microorganisms, carbohydrates, saliva, fluoride intake, dietary factors, and socio-economic factors in development of caries and other dental hard tissue disorders; • collect and recognize clinical manifestation of caries and other dental hard tissue disorders.
Skills:On successful completion of the course the students will be able to: • select and apply appropriate method of caries and other dental hard tissue treatment, considering its limitations; • interpret data on the presence of different stages of the caries process and symptoms related to dental caries; • prepare a treatment plan, accompanied by continuing general oral health preventive care; • evaluate results and prognosis of the treatment, anticipated complications and their prevention, modify the plan of treatment.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to evaluate, prevent and control caries and other dental hard tissue disorders, to explain their integration in oral health system and interaction with other oral disorders and general health.
