Objective:
To form a general notion of the psychology science, the main directions and branches of psychology, and research methodology; to form an understanding of the main regularities of human psyche, personality structure, personality formation and psychological processes.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Students independently read the indicated sources of literature, give summaries and draw the main conclusions, and prepare a presentation on the indicated subject in collaboration with other participants. As part of independent learning, students perform a personality trait, development analysis, and present it in class.
Assessment Criteria:
• Active participation in seminars (20%); • Systematic, independent study of previously specified theoretical literature (20%); • Presentation of independently developed works (20%); • Test - (40%).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to do the following: • characterise psychology as a science and its main tasks; • name the main directions of modern psychology; • describe the main regularities of the human psyche; • recognize a person’s psychological characteristics and states, psychological processes; • name the main research methods in psychology; • recognise different emotions and feelings; • describe types of temperament; • describe the processes affecting personality development; • describe the characteristics of personality behaviour in different conditions; • understand the importance of an individual approach in communication with the client/patient.
Skills:As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to describe: • main directions and branches of psychology; • basic regularities of the psyche; • individual typological characteristics of personality.
Competencies:As a result of completing the study course, students: • distinguish between different psychological phenomena; • are able to establish a professional dialogue with the client/patient.
