Preliminary Knowledge:
Alphabet of the Latvian and English language.
Objective:
Acquire knowledge and skills in reading, writing, formation and explanation on the usage of terminology in anatomy and clinical terminology; apply the knowledge in professional field.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Students acquire the study course according to the thematic plan; do homework on each theme; work with the dictionary, additional materials and the Internet resources to understand the terminology better. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
Assessment Criteria:
Attendance (80 – 100%,) which leads to 5% of the grade, participation and appropriate answers during classes (10%), papers of good quality submitted in time (5%), 2 passed tests (80% correct answers), which test the ability to form phrases identifying words and using correct endings; skills to write, explain and classify terms.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:After a successful completion of the study course students will be able to: • define the spelling and pronunciation rules in medical terminology; • identify elements of Greek origin in clinical terminology and explain their meaning; • name and interpret rules on formation, explanation and usage of anatomical and clinical terminology.
Skills:After a successful completion of the study course students will be able to: • read and write medical terms correctly; • identify and classify anatomical and clinical terminology; • form and explain anatomical and clinical terminology; • classify and compare medical terms; • interpret and use Latin phrases.
Competencies:After successful completion of the study course students will be able to use anatomical ans clinical terms in the learning and professional environment.
