Unaided Work: | After each lecture/class students receive independent work assignments. • Objectives: to learn the terminology in order to describe the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication; to define the concept of space and understand its importance; to describe social groups; adequately define the term "time", to understand the role of culture within the meaning of time and perception; to recognise different cultural public health practice types, recognise significant cultural factors that influence the behavior of the disease in relation to environmental control; to formulate biological differences in individuals among different racial groups, to explain how the susceptibility of individuals may vary among different racial groups. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Presentation of the client / patient situation description. The exam is evaluated with a mark in a 10-point system, where the lowest successful evaluation is 4 points. A score of 1 – 10 is given for each point, the average is drawn at the end. The following points are evaluated: 1. Have all tasks 1 to 10 been completed? 2. General Questions Section 1–10 3. Description 1–10 4. Reflection section 1–10 5. Presentation skills 1–10 6. Ability to answer questions 1–10 Student participation in lectures and classes – 15%; Classroom tests and homework – 35%; Presentation of the client / patient transcultural survey description at the end of the course – 50%. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Upon completion of the study course the students will be able to describe the observation model of transcultural care, aspects which are important in the care of patients and a nurse/midwife's role in it. | ||||||||
Skills: | Upon completion of the study course the students will be able to assess data, get the information, analyse and formulate them, and to put forward and solve the problems of transcultural care. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Upon completion of the study course the students develop competence: to describe the situation of a patient and formulate care problems, taking into account cross-cultural health care context, integrating and using appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes for the situation. | ||||||||
