Preliminary Knowledge: | Philosophy and medical ethics, propaedeutics, an introduction to the library to use, medical terminology in a foreign language. | ||||||||
Objective: | To provide knowledge and promote skills to analyse, evaluate and interpret scientific studies of the evidence in substantiation of care solutions to the problems. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Work in small groups and individually. • In classroom: seminar on choice of the theme and formulation of the question, discussion. • Independent work: searching, finding and describing scientific evidence. • In classroom: presentation of individual work. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | 1. Evaluation in a 10-point-scale, where the lowest successful evaluation is 4 points. 2. Five independently prepared and presented presentations during the course – 60%. 3. Individual work presentation at the end of the course, which contains the below mentioned points – 40%: • PICO formulation; • Question; • Keywords; • Theoretical background of the theme (150 – 200 words); • A description of the evidence search and process of discovery; • Evidence summary and answer to PICO question; • Conclusion. | ||||||||

Knowledge: | Acquired basic knowledge and understanding of evidence-based care concept, importance, opportunities and sources. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students will be able to find and evaluate scientific evidence studies, accordingly present them and communicate about them. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Upon the acquisition of the study course, students develop the competence to assess the scientific evidence of care, taking into account the health care context, integrating and using skills, knowledge and attitudes appropriate for the situation. | ||||||||
