Objective: | To create understanding and provide theoretical knowledge about types of business, the nature and forms of business, marketing activities and the basics of management, the principles of analysis and planning of the company's operations, as well as the basic principles of project development and management. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | During the implementation of the study course, students independently, outside of lectures, additionally study literature on relevant topics that are discussed in lectures and classes. After that, in the classes, students take a test to confirm the knowledge they have acquired. Work with literature and lecture materials, prepare a question, perform tasks independently in groups, prepare an individual project application and present it. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Independently prepared (70%) and presented (10%) project application, ability to justify and argue your point of view, answer the questions asked (20%). | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | After completing the study course, students will know basic concepts and terminology in economics. Will be able to understand the basic concepts and forms of business, define the principles of company establishment and registration procedure, explain the essence of company management, the content and necessity of business plans. Explain the importance of the market in the economy and distinguish between different types of markets, as well as the causes and socio-economic consequences of the cyclical development of the economy. Students will be able to explain basic concepts and terminology in project management, will be able to evaluate the main competencies of project management. | ||||||||
Skills: | As a result of learning the study course, students will be able to navigate the basic indicators of Latvian economic development, explain the role of entrepreneurship and accounting in the company. Will be able to discuss and navigate the Latvian tax and fee system. Make decisions that affect the business, its effective implementation, as well as plan and analyze the company's main financial flow indicators. After completing the study course, students will know how to work in a team. Will know how to determine project quality criteria, evaluate the general situation and data of the industry, define the justification of the need. | ||||||||
Competencies: | After completing the study course, students will be able to use the basic knowledge of regulatory legal acts in Latvia, the legal force of the document, its design and use. Use marketing to promote the company's economic processes. Discuss the most effective management styles in successful business. Students will be able to independently develop a project application according to the idea of the project and the set goals and scope. | ||||||||
