Preliminary Knowledge: | Knowledge of English language at the secondary school level. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Preparing a presentation on the topic related to the field of physiotherapy; use of a dictionary to ascertain the meaning of terminology; writing scientific article summaries. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | • Active participation in classes; qualitative written homework; the quality of oral answers; • Continuous assessment – checking terminology acquisition and its practical application, written tests – 57% of the final result; • Presentations on a medicine-related topics of free choice – 29% of the final result; final written test to evaluate receptive and productive skills – 14% of the final result. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • recognize professional terminology in different types of texts; • recall professional terminology related to the field of physiotherapy; • describe different phenomena in the field of physiotherapy using professional terminology in English. | ||||||||
Skills: | Having completed the study course programme the student will be able to: skillfully use medical terms for professional purposes; to read professional literature for vocational needs; to provide instructions in the English language on health issues to patients /clients; to prepare a report and present it in the English language; prepare a summary /annotation of the article in the English language. | ||||||||
Competencies: | On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply practically the acquired terminology in various communicative situations. | ||||||||
