Preliminary Knowledge: | Knowledge and skills of the English language at secondary school level and passed the centralized examination in English. | ||||||||
Objective: | To develop students’ comprehension of the appropriate usage of medical terminology in English in the chosen speciality, to facilitate its practical usage, to develop students’ communication skills for use in studies and further work. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | During practical classes, students participate in pair and group work, do interactive tasks, engage with discussions about topics of interest related to the content of the course, form dialogues in pairs. Once a month a student has a chance to report on an individually prepared topic. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | • class attendance; • active participation and qualitative answers in practical classes; • individual works (homeworks, reports, presentations) done properly and submitted in due time; • a good test (3) progress after theme acquisition; • in test evaluation the percentage is used. | ||||||||

Knowledge: | On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • recognize and interpret the usage of medical terminology; • comprehend and analyze medical texts; • state one’s opinion and justify it using appropriate language structures. | ||||||||
Skills: | On successful completion of the course, students will be able to • efficiently use medical terminology for professional purposes; • read or translate professional texts for occupational purposes; • give guidlines in English to clients who need support-movement corrections and rehabilitation; • prepare a report and deliver it in English. | ||||||||
Competencies: | On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply practically the acquired knowledge and skills in their studies and professional work. | ||||||||
