Objective:
To acquire basics of medical terminology in Russian and skills for communication with patients.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Home assignments with specific tasks for learning active vocabulary and grammar; preparation of presentations. Students are obliged to fill in the course evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.
Assessment Criteria:
The course final assessment is cumulative, consisting of the exam result (50%), active participation in seminars including those given distantly, qualitatively done homework assignments, 2 tests (30%), and a presentation (20%).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:On successful completion of the course the students will: • recognise and recall the lexis of communication topics; • know basic grammar patterns; • name human body parts and organs; • know the names of common disease symptoms.
Skills:Upon successful completion of the course the students will be able to: • comprehend elementary level information; • give information about themselves, their family, daily routine; • ask and answer questions; • use the Russian language in daily communication; • select and use proper medical terminology in interviewing patients on their health condition, including taking the medical history.
Competencies:On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills practically in different communicative situations and academic studies.
