Objective: | To provide the students with an opportunity to master the basic conceptions of psychology. Through practice to develop students' critical thinking skills, facilitating the application of the acquired knowledge and skills in psychology to the further professional activity. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Students read the indicated sources of literature, watch video lectures in e-course and answer to self-examination questions on each topic; actively participate in the final lecture and practical classes, reasonably discuss the acquired material; working in groups prepare and submit a clinical case analysis. | ||||||||

Knowledge: | Students describe the biopsychosocial approach to health issues; recognise human psychological characteristics and states, psychological processes; characterise the relationship between emotions and cognitive processes; describe the concepts of need, motivation and self-efficacy; students understand the importance of managing stress and know different coping strategies. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students understand the differences between professions of a psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist; describe the psychological processes, states and characteristics, needs and motives based on the acquired knowledge; recognise and describe different emotions and feelings; understand the impact of various factors on the health of an individual; use critical thinking skills to analyse clinical cases. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students analyse clinical cases, are able to identify social and psychological factors that can affect the health status of the individual, the effectiveness of the treatment; analysing a clinical case, can participate in discussion operating with the basic concepts of general psychology. | ||||||||
