Preliminary Knowledge:
Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology, Cariology
Objective:
To discover and analyse the link of the knowledge acquired during the study with the practical work of a dental hygienist in oral health education and promotion.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Practice evaluation notebooks - reports. Prepare oral health-promoting presentations, booklets, posters. To educate dental patients (different age groups). Educate children in pre-school or primary school. Read evidence-based scientific literature on health promotion and education, prepare a review.
Assessment Criteria:
Practice report and compliance of the design of practice materials with the design requirements. Implementation of educational classes and projects in practice. Active participation of the student in practice classes and a report on the visit to pre-school educational institutions or on the work in the clinic with children. The final assessment is the presentation and defense of the practice.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Students will know the principles and approaches of oral health promotion and education, as well as dietary recommendations related to dental caries and dental erosions. Oral health needs assessment. Public health approaches to dental injury prevention and smoking cessation programs.
Skills:Students will be able to evaluate the attitudes and knowledge of children and young people about the possibilities of promoting oral health. Provide dietary recommendations for dental caries and dental erosions, evaluate feeding systems in kindergartens and schools. Take preventive measures and provide acute assistance in cases of dental injuries. Use of non-smoking and smoking cessation programs.
Competencies:Evaluate principles, approaches of oral health promotion and education. c preventive programmes and strategies opposite to treatment regimen in dentistry.
