Aesthetic Group Gymnasts from RSU Participate in Festival in Portugal

The 8th Golden Age Gym Festival for seniors (50+) took place in Madeira (Portugal) in October. 1,800 participants from 18 European countries competed in the festival. Three teams from Latvia participated, two of which were from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).

Teams from RSU have participated in every Golden Age Gym Festival since 2008.

‘We took part in seminars and workshops at the festival and presented several of our programmes suitable for older female gymnasts,’

said Maruta Hoferte, the coach of the RSU team and a lecturer at the Department of Sports and Nutrition. ‘The event was very inspirational and opened our eyes to new ideas that we can use in our professional development.’
