Support for Ukraine
For Students

Dear students,

The whole world has been following the events in Ukraine with concern. We would like to emphasise that the situation in Latvia is peaceful. Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) continues studies and to carry out research. The work at RSU has not been delayed and has not stopped. Our students will be the first to be informed about any changes. We are ready to provide full support to our students so that the day-to-day learning process takes place in its normal rhythm.

'Latvia is a member of NATO, a collective defence organisation that guarantees its security. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the leaders of the alliance's member states have stated this repeatedly and explicitly. Attacking one country means attacking the alliance as a whole. To strengthen the security of all member states, NATO has already sent support and continues to bolster its military presence in the Eastern Europe. It strengthens the security of Latvia at this time of international challenges. This has also been confirmed by senior officials of Latvia.'

Professor Andris Sprūds, the Dean of the Faculty of European Studies,
expert on international affairs

Our hearts and minds are together with our friends and colleagues in Ukraine. RSU will provide support to the academic staff and students from Ukraine.

Yours faithfully,

Rīga Stradiņš University Administration
