Doctors and Researchers from Ukraine and Latvia Share Their Experience at Practical Ophthalmology Conference

The scientific-practical conference Practical Ophthalmology was held online in Kyiv and Odessa in Ukraine and Riga in Latvia on 28-29 April, 2022. 

The main organisers were Professor Pavlo Fedirko, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Director of the Institute of Radiation Hygiene and Epidemiology at the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), Prof. Natalia Vladimirovna Pasechnikova, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Director of the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy (Odessa), and Prof. Māra Pilmane, Dr Habil Med, Director of the Institute of Anatomy and Anthropology, Head of the Department of Morphology, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (Riga).

The conference had sections for ophthalmo-surgery and the conservative treatment of ophthalmological diseases as well as a master class devoted to different ophthalmology issues. Overall, the conference attracted more than 5,870 visitors who watched the event online (mainly on Youtube).

Specialists from different Ukraine universities, and medical and scientific centres gave lectures, as did lecturers from the RSU Institute of Anatomy and Anthropology. A poster section and various master classes took place on the conference's second day. 

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of this conference at this time that is so tense and difficult for the Ukrainian people, including for doctors and researchers.
