The RSU METC is the only simulation centre in Latvia and the largest in the Baltics. It has the appropriate infrastructure and equipment to provide the necessary training for skills needed in different healthcare sectors, to promote patient safety, and to improve the quality of healthcare in Latvia.

Along with speeches and greetings, RSU will sign a memorandum of collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the University of Latvia, the Latvian Medical Association, the Latvian Association of Young Doctors, the Latvian Nurses Association, the Emergency Medical Service, and the Union of Professional Organisations of Medical Practitioners of Latvia on a national strategy for the development of simulation-based education in medical and healthcare education. Ernst & Young Baltic will then present its report “Simulation-Based Continuing Education Management for Healthcare Professionals in Latvia”, followed by the official opening of the simulated emergency unit.

RSU has invested significant resources in the development of the METC for the past 10 years, creating both an excellent team of professionals and a state-of-the-art environment for clinical skills simulation in education. The centre serves as a place where aspiring and current medical and healthcare professionals strengthen their theoretical knowledge, refine their clinical technical and non-technical skills, and expand their general and professional competence in a safe, simulated environment created following global best practices.
