The global international education summit Student Journey took place on 18 - 22 October. It was organised by the London-based international education media and analytics company THE PIE. Baiba Pētersone, Director of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) International Department, shared the university’s experience on providing support to international students at a panel discussion.

The panel discussion highlighted the challenges that the the COVID-19 pandemic has posed for international students and education institutions' readiness to overcome them. The discussion covered issues such as international student satisfaction and the continuation of studies, the digital platforms used to support international students, the effectiveness of social media channels, the integration of international students into the university during remote studies, and more.

The speakers included representatives of higher education organisations from different regions of the world: Andrew Ullman, Co-Founder of the education company University Bridge (US), Chantal Brine, Executive Director of the Canadian Employment Agency EnPoint (Canada), Sarah Bishop, Wellbeing Manager at the Teesside University (UK), and Tathiana Mota, Student Engagement Manager at the International Education Agency Study Cairns (Australia). The panel discussion was moderated by Amy Baker, Executive Director of THE PIE . 

More than 50 speakers addressed a range of issues related to international education, including next generation study marketing and recruitment, online education and cybersecurity, support for international students, students' mental health and employment. Attention was also paid to national education policies and students’ international mobility in the world's leading study destinations, for example the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, China and India.
