Objective

To provide students with basic knowledge of general and special pharmacology.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, symptoms of certain diseases.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

After successful fulfilment of the study course requirements, students will have acquired knowledge of groups of pharmacological agents, medicines used in care, mechanisms of action, side effects and peculiarities of use thereof.

Skills

As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to evaluate and analyse the effectiveness and side effects of medication care, side effects, educate the patient about the correct use of medicines.

Competence

As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to:
1. Classify groups of pharmacological agents.
2. Generalise the risks and benefits of the relevant drug treatment.
3. Interpret professional information on drugs.
4. Evaluate and analyse the patient’s condition while taking medicines.
5. Anticipate patient problems related to medicines.
6. Analyse the positive and negative effects of medicines on the body.
