Objective

Acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in forensic tactics and methods, upgrading practical skills in tactical techniques and methods for carrying out investigative activities.
Tasks:
1. Promote students’ understanding of forensic tactics and methodology.
2. Promote students’ understanding of tactics and methodology applied in individual investigative activities.
3. Promote students’ understanding of the specific nature of individual types of criminal offences.
4. Enrich students’ practical skills in application of tactics and methodology in individual investigative activities.

Prerequisites

Prior knowledge is not necessary.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

- The student is able to demonstrate basic and specialist knowledge in forensic tactics and methods, part of which corresponds to the level of the highest achievements of the relevant science sector;
- The student has mastered basic and specialist knowledge of tactics and methodology used in certain investigative activities;
- The student has mastered basic and specialist knowledge of the investigation peculiarities of certain types of criminal offences;
- The student has mastered basic and specialist knowledge of determining individual types of forensic expertise;
- The student is able to demonstrate understanding of the key concepts and regularities in forensic tactics and methodology.

Skills

- Students are able to continuously structure their learning, analyse their level of knowledge and rationally improve it; select and evaluate the sources of literature and are able to develop their scientific research skills;
- Students are able to demonstrate a scientific approach to tackling problems by making decisions and creative solutions in problem solving with responsibility and initiative, by doing work both individually and in a team and by managing other people’s work;
- Students are able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in formulating and analytically describing the information obtained, the problems identified and possible solutions in a particular sector of science, explaining, arguing and discussing both with professionals and non-professionals in the area concerned;
- Students are able to take an independent decision on carrying out individual investigative activities, conduct investigation of individual criminal offences, carry out analysis of material evidence, determine assessment of certain types of forensic expertise and analyse the expert’s opinion;
- Students are able to take responsibility for their decisions and activities, take critical decisions and find solutions under unforeseen and changing circumstances, adapt to new situations and be open to change, take leadership and initiative and face the consequences, comply with ethical standards and demonstrate broad general knowledge and competence. Improve the ability to listen to different opinions.

Competence

- The student is able to use theoretical knowledge and skills in professional and personal development;
- The student is able to offer not only formal solutions to the challenges in the forensic sector but to find solutions that serve the wishes and priorities of the community (local community) and improve public administration in general, by demonstrating professional ethics;
- The student is able to independently obtain, select and analyse the information, participate in the development of the relevant professional field and find solutions to the situation in the relevant scientific field;
- The student is able to independently carry out separate investigative activities, investigation of certain criminal offences, and analysis of the material evidence, determine assessment of certain types of expert inspections and analyse the expert’s opinion.
