Objective

To develop an understanding of the pathway of chemotherapy and other oncology drugs from prescription to administration to the oncology patient and the role of the clinical pharmacist in this process:
1. To learn in depth the topics necessary for the work of a clinical pharmacist, such as the safe and rational use of medicinal products in oncology, dosing, including for patients with organ dysfunction, side effects and interactions of medicines, monitoring.
2. To improve students’ ability to identify and solve pharmacotherapy problems in oncology.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of clinical pharmacology, biochemistry, dosage form technology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Pharmacology of medicines used in oncology, interactions the most common drug combinations used in oncology, specifics of prescribing and administration, safe handling of cytostatic medicines in inpatient and outpatient settings, specifics of paediatric oncology.

Skills

The student will be able to solve practical tasks, clinically analyse therapy and clinical case, gain experience in the analysis of standard therapies in adult and paediatric oncology, skills in safe circulation of medicinal products.

Competence

Knowledge of medicines used in adult and paediatric oncology, interactions and dosing, analysis of therapy.
