Objective

Strenghten theoretical and professional knowledge, abilities and skills, learned during the first, second, third and fourth years of study, by giving quality care to patients in different age groups. Provide quality and advancement of nursing practice by practicing evidence-based health care. Provide care that is centered on individuals, educate patients and their families or their guardians, educate nurses and other members of the health and social care team (6 credits).
Acquire necessary skills to manage resources needed to provide healthcare (4 credits)

Prerequisites

Leadership and management skills in nursing practice. Patient safety, rights, confidentiality, pedagogy in healthcare. Clincal pharmacology and medical care, basics of clinical care, clinical care, clinical process and theory of nursing, interpersonal interactions in healthcare, practice I, II, III, IV, V, psychiatry and narcology, general care, family medicine, neurology and patient care, mental health and patient care, courses defined in the nursing study program (first, second, third and fourth years of study).

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Knowledge necessary to provide general and specialized patient care and education, and patient safety. Knowledge in managing effective healthcare organization, risk management, organization processes and their management.

Skills

Provide evidance-based healthcare, use critical thinking approach in patient care. Understanding methods to increase the quality of healthcare in the context of patient safety, participate in the process of assuring and improving quality of health care. Understand the management of care team and resource planning. Ability to plan and execute educational processes for nurses and social care workers and the process of patient education in cases of chronic and acute diseases.

Competence

An ability to provide evidence-based patient care and to ensure the continuity of the patient care process. An ability to ensure the quality and advancement of the nursing practice. An ability to educate patients and healthcare professionals. An ability to manage resources necessary to ensure healthcare work.
