Preclinical Course in Prosthetic Dentistry I (ZPK_018)
About Study Course
Objective
To acquire knowledge and comprehension of types of dentures, biomechanics and biomaterials. To gain practical skills in clinical work practicing on simulators.
Prerequisites
Human anatomy, dental anatomy, histology, medical physics with biomaterials, general medical chemistry, English.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the study course the students will be able to describe stages of treatment, technologies and materials applied for treatment, instruments used in prosthetics, making removable and non-removable dentures.
Upon successful completion of the study course the students will be able to perform following manipulations: tooth preparation according to principles of biomechanics, making provisional crowns, taking impressions of all types of dentures, post and core modelling, bite registration, fitting the framework of crowns and cast dentures, trying of dentures, denture adjustments, cementing crowns and fixed partial dentures as well as simple treatment plan presentation and drawing design of prosthesis.
Upon successful completion of the study course the students will be able to justify necessity of manipulations, selection of instruments and materials as well as to critically evaluate their own failures and treatment related risks.
