Objective

To develop theoretical knowledge of art therapy guidelines in the specialisation of Visual Plastic Art Therapy (VPAT), professional skills and competences in working with different client/patient groups. To provide the opportunity to learn different methods and techniques of VPMT and to develop the ability to use appropriate interventions in preparation for the placement/qualifying examination/professional activity. To train the development of art-oriented competences, the skills to plan, conduct and analyse art therapy sessions, to evaluate art therapy results, to give feedback, to reflect.

Prerequisites

Professional Activity in Art Therapy and its Legal Foundations; Principles and Process of Assessment in Art Therapy; Psychology of Personality and Development; Individual Counselling in Art Therapy and Psychodynamics; Visual Plastic Art Therapy I.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Explain the theoretical substantiation of various VAT methods and techniques, understands various VAT theoretical approaches for dealing with different groups of clients/patients in differing environment; name and substantiate the peculiarities and interventions of VPAT process organisation while dealing with various groups of clients/patients in various practice locations/workplaces in health care.

Skills

Set and formulate the aims and tasks of art therapy, appropriate for the group of clients/patients, choose the theoretical approaches, according to which art therapy plan is drawn up, taking into account the specificity, age and possible risks of the group of clients/patients; use appropriate VPAT methods, techniques and interventions; analyse and assess art therapy process and results; execute protocols.

Competence

Apply VAT methods, techniques and interventions according to the specifics of the group of clients/patients and VPAT aims; organise and conduct separate VPAT sessions individually and in a group as a simulation play, analyse their structure, contents and therapeutic relationship, assess results; recognise their own professional restrictions and possibilities; carry out self-reflection.
