Objective

To strengthen the student's knowledge, develop and improve practical skills and acquire competence in accordance with the profession standard of the nutrition specialist. During the Clinical Practice III, the student must observe, manage and analyze the specifics of the nutrition specialist.

Prerequisites

All courses previously tought in study program.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Understands the structure of the anamnesis, knows the functioning of a person in normal and pathological conditions, follows ethical norms in communication with the patient. Understands the impact of nutrition therapy on health status and objectives, understands the indications and contraindications for the use of medical technology. Understands the bioenergetic processes in the human organism - the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Understands nutritional therapy for patients in the acute phase of inpatient, outpatient and within the multi-professional rehabilitation team.

Skills

Respects patient rights, confidentiality principles, data protection. Determines the patient's complaints and needs, identifies the patient's medical records and documents the patient's medical anamnesis.
Bases objectives of nutrition therapy on the results of the evaluation and analysis of the patient's nutrition, eating habits, functional capacity and the daily nutrients and energy needed and the conclusion of a nutrition specialist. Informs the patient about the information obtained in the evaluation process and the conclusion, professionally documents the information obtained during the consultation, prepares the conclusion of a nutrition specialist on the patient's nutritional status.

Competence

Respects the patient's confidentiality and the protection of personal data, autonomy and rights in the professional activity of a nutrition specialist. Purposefully obtains information from the medical records of the patient and / or relatives, caregiver or legal representative for the provision of nutritional therapy, analyses and evaluates the results obtained during the consultation and identifies the problem.
Completes the medical documentation in a comprehensible, professional manner, using professional terminology. Explains and justifies nutrition specialist consultation process and the conclusion and recommendations in a way that the patient and / or relative, caregiver, or legal representative can understand.
Determines the patient's goals and the desired outcome of nutritional therapy and together with the patient sets significant, specific, achievable objectives, developing a treatment plan and correctly documenting it.
Applies knowledge of nutrition therapy, diseases, food and cooking technologies.
Purposefully, professionally and respectfully cooperates with other medical practitioners.
