About Study Course
Objective
To develop understanding of the psychological aspects of interrelationships, the importance of successful professional communication during the implementation of the health care process, to promote the development and improvement of communication skills.
Prerequisites
Secondary school level knowledge in social sciences.
Learning outcomes
Students develop their knowledge about the structure of communication, types, influencing factors; acquire knowledge in clinical interviewing and counselling techniques; describe the nurse's role of communication in the medical care process in a clinical setting; name the aspects of professional communication in the model of communication with the patient in the clinical environment; define the causes of conflicts, describe the signals of conflict and tactics of resolving them.
Recognizes and describes different emotions; during simulations professionally leads the conversation, collecting the anamnesis and conducting the motivational interview; applies conflict resolution skills in simulated learning situations; identifies situations that increase a risk of burnout; evaluates own resources, burnout risks and skills to be improved in professional communication; conflict resolution skills are applied in simulated learning situations.
Understands the needs of patients in different communication situations in clinical care;
Understands the aspects for a successful clinical interview and the application of counselling techniques; Differentiates risk factors in the development of potential conflicts and chooses behavior for more successful conflict resolution.
