Objective

To develop understanding on the principles of constitutional law, sources, institutions, norms and constitutional system.

Tasks:
1. Acquaint the student with constitutional law as an area of public law;
2. Provide understanding on the requirements for enforcement of state power.

Prerequisites

Required prerequisite: acquisition of the study course “Legal Theory”

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students acquire knowledge on the constitutional law of Latvia, its principles, norms, institutions and sources, and also knowledge on the constitutional laws relationship, acquaint with the subjects of this relationship, the composition and operations of Latvia’s constitutional structure and the constitutional law science.

Skills

Able to analyse and has competence in constitutional law, distinguishes between the principal concepts, able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in solving legal cases and in the analysis of normative enactments.

Competence

Able to understand the application and importance of constitutional law, is competent in constitutional law substantive and procedural norms.
