Objective

1. To ensure studies in general and oral pathology, including insight into the morphological and functional manifestations of certain pathological processes and diseases, pathogenesis thereof. This aspect of the programme should provide the theoretical basis for learning the clinical courses corresponding to the specialty, shaping a well-educated specialist.
2. Provide a practical overview of pathology as a diagnostic branch of medicine at a level appropriate to the needs of practical work.

Prerequisites

Cell biology, human anatomy, histology, genetics, physiology, biochemistry.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of completing the study course, the student will know and be able to reasonably explain the nature, causes and risk factors of various diseases of the oral cavity, as well as pathological processes occurring within them and/or general pathological processes, pathogenesis and expression thereof in clinical processes, laboratory and imaging examinations, possible complications and consequences, outcomes.

Skills

The student will be able to reasonably evaluate the pathogenesis of the most common diseases of the oral cavity, relate it to the clinical manifestations and diagnostic basis of the diseases, as well as take practical steps to organise the required tissue examinations, interpret and critically analyse results thereof in relation to the overall picture of the disease.

Competence

The obtained competences cover the pathogenesis of diseases of the oral cavity and serve as a basis for further clinical studies for the acquisition of clinical competences in the relevant specialty.
