Objective

To provide knowledge on the pathogenesis of human diseases as the theoretical basis for further clinical studies and practical medical work; to develop practical skills in the evaluation of laboratory investigation.

Prerequisites

Cell biology, human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of the study course acquisition, the student will know and be able to explain the essence of certain diseases and general pathological processes; pathogenesis and its manifestations in clinical processes, imaging and laboratory examinations; causes and risk factors; possible complications and consequences, as well as outcomes, as far as the scope of the study course allows.

Skills

As far as the scope of the study course allows, the student will be able to identify the most common pathologies in clinical tasks, evaluate the pathogenesis of diseases mentioned in the thematic plan, relate it to clinical manifestations and diagnostic bases, as well as take practical steps to organize necessary laboratory examinations, interpret and critically analyze their results in relation to the overall picture of the disease.

Competence

Using the acquired knowledge, the student will develop competencies in working with information and medical examination data.
