On 25 April, the Embassy of Latvia in Stockholm hosted an information session for prospective Swedish students on study options at Rīga Stradiņš University.

The information session was opened by Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr Gints Jegermanis, who illustrated the advantages of Latvia and RSU as an academic destination, emphasising the close affinity between Latvia and Sweden, study quality in Latvia, excellent traffic connections and the dynamic cultural life in Rīga.

During the informative event the Director of the RSU International Department Baiba Pētersone gave a presentation on Rīga Stradiņš University and informed of study programmes taught in English. Representative of the education agency Språkpunkten, a long-term cooperation partner of RSU Johan Stenhammar gave useful information on grants and state aid programmes available to Swedish students. He also shared with participants of the event the previous experience of Swedish students at RSU. The meeting was closed with an informal briefing session during which the attendees could ask individual questions on specific subjects of interest.

Currently there are 360 Swedish students at RSU of whom 311 study medicine and 49 are dentistry students. Swedish students form the second largest foreign students’ community at RSU outpaced only by Germans.
