Kā notika studiju plāna sagatavošana?

During the process of writing my learning agreement I got familiar with the study curriculum at my host university. Then I compared the courses at RSU with the courses offered at my host university. I tried to replace all my courses from RSU, which was difficult. In the end, I completed my learning agreement with 9 courses at my host university and 5 courses at RSU. In the end, everything turned out very well and I managed to finish the missing courses at RSU, which I could not manage to complete at my host university.

The study process at the University of Lübeck – or generally in Germany – is structured a little different.

During the clinical study years in Lübeck the students have lectures and clinical internships and seminars for every subject. The duration of the clinical internships differs depending on the subject and the structure, for example, during the urology course, I had my weekly lectures and additionally I had a 2-day-clinical internship at the hospital to get a clinical insight. During the courses of internal medicine and surgery, I had lectures as well and additionally 2 weeks of clinical internship in the hospital, which gave me the opportunity to connect theory and practice.

Kādi bija dzīvošanas apstākļi?

Before my arrival in Lübeck, I was looking for a place to live; I used the German internetplatform WG-gesucht in order to find a place to live. If you are looking for a shared apartment with other students, this is the perfect platform to do so.

There is also an option to life in a student dormitory nearby the university. You can also contact the Erasmus+ coordinator at the university, who will help you in finding a place to stay.

Vai piešķirtā stipendija bija pietiekama dzīvošanas izmaksu segšanai?

The Erasmus+ grant covered my living expenses.

Ieteikumi, padomi citiem studentiem, kas dosies mobilitātē uz šo pilsētu?

I highly recommend choosing the University of Lübeck as your host university for your Erasmus mobility. Lübeck is a beautiful city near the seaside (only 25 min by train).

I fell in love with this beautiful German city during my first few weeks.

Visjaukākā atmiņa/piedzīvojums no Erasmus pieredzes

Aside from my weekly trips to the seaside, the best experience during my stay in Lübeck was when I was able to perform an aortic valve replacement on a pig´s heart during my surgery course.

Visvērtīgākā atziņa/mācība

I am more than happy that I have decided to study 2 semesters in Germany at the University of Lübeck. I have learned a lot and expanded my medical knowledge. I have met other medical students and made new friends. I was able to connect with doctors and asked lots of questions; I have come one step closer to becoming a well-educated and open-minded doctor.

I can only recommend every other student to take that chance and apply for the mobility program, it will change you for the better.
